AECI Plant Health, formerly Farmers Organization Limited, has today handed over a MK7Million cheque to Malawi Red Cross Society(MRCS) aimed at Enhancing Food Security and Livelihoods through Irrigation Farming for Smallholder Farmers in Ntchisi.
A total of 10 farmer clubs, approximately 200 households, will among others be supported with Farm Inputs, market linkages and capacities on Climate Smart Agriculture and Irrigation Techniques among others.
Speaking during the handover ceremony at Red Cross Headquarters in Lilongwe, Operations Manager at AECI Plant Health Sangwani Harawa said, we continue to trust Malawi Red Cross Society due to its capacities to reach out to those in hard to reach areas. This is not the first time we have supported the organization. We previously came in during Cholera Response, and we were satisfied with the output hence our comeback” said Harawa.
Receiving the cheque, MRCS Director of Finance Abel Khombe appreciated the support from AECI Plant Health saying this shows a long and existing partnership that the two organizations continues to enjoy.
“AECI Plant Health has been with us for a number of years, during the Cholera Response. Now with the current economic Malawi’s economy and food systems, equipping smallholder farmers is ideal” said Khombe,
The 6 months project will be completed in December 2025
