The launch took place in Lilongwe on Thursday where the Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda highly commended MRCS for the huge support provided from plan development to the launch.

“Malawi Red Cross Society has been a key partner in the development of this plan, as government we always appreciate all the efforts the Red Cross do in supporting us dealing with Public emergencies, they are actually one of the first responders, and now supporting us to have this document is a great milestone”
On his part, representative of the Global Taskforce on Cholera Control and also from IFRC Dr. Joseph Seriki pledged more support to Malawi government through Malawi Red Cross Society on such cause, saying it is pleasing to see Malawi align itself to ending Cholera by 2030.

“On behalf of the Malawi Red Cross Society, I wish to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to being a trusted partner in the fight against cholera as the society plays its auxiliary role. We stand ready to work hand-in-hand with the government and partners to ensure the successful implementation of this plan” said Dr. Seriki.
According to the MRCS Head of programs and development Gloria Kunyenga, MRCS with funding from the Global Taskforce on Cholera Control through IFRC Country Support Platform (CSP) has supported M&E development Workshop, Consolidation Workshop and Validation process of the plan.

MRCS is also expected to support proof reading and printing of the initial copies of the plan. Malawi’s Presidential Taskforce on Public Health Emergencies has been leading the process.
